End of Life Palliative Care and Euthanasia

In 2024, we see both the demand and the capacity for veterinarians to provide strategic end of life care to companion animals. For palliative patients, treatment shifts from long term goals towards a “comfort over cure” mindset. This allows vets the freedom to focus on core wellbeing through advanced pain relief strategies, mobility aids and cognitive support.

This course provides clinical and pharmacological training for end of life care and small animal euthanasia, as well as client care aspects such as grief counselling and communication. Our patients deserve not only a “good” death through compassionate euthanasia, but also a good end of life journey through excellent veterinary care.

This course is suitable for registered veterinarians with an interest in palliative care and wellness, and a soft spot for good ol’ dogs and cats. Veterinary nurses & technicians are also welcome to join.
